TNT Gymnastics Boys Team
All
members of the TNT Boys Team Program will be participating and competing in
the USA GYMNASTICS program. Its main office is located in Indianapolis,
Indiana, and is responsible for the administration of all Women’s, Men’s and
Rhythmic Gymnastics in the country. It is their responsibility to produce
the competitive structure, along with its rules, regulations, and the
athletes that represent our country in international competitions. Included
in this responsibility are the developmental and age group programs that
direct our gymnasts from the beginning stages.
Boys competitive gymnastics
is a step above recreational gymnastics. Boys recreational gymnastics at TNT
focuses on enhancing strength and teaching gymnastics skills with the enjoyment
of the gymnast as a main priority. Gymnastics at any level teaches discipline,
work ethic, team work and positive self image. Competitive gymnastics takes all
of these attributes one step further. The boys competitive team travels to meets
in North Dakota and Minnesota. Boys on the competitive team condition and
progress in their skills at a higher rate due to the higher intensity of the
practices and also the addition hours of practice time. Boys on the competitive team practice from 4 hours a week as Level 4 gymnasts up to 12 hours a week as
level 7 and above.
Boys competitive gymnastics
is divided into levels based on the skill level of the gymnast. Level 4 is the
first level of competition and focuses on refining basic boys gymnastics skills
on each of the six Olympic events. The skill level required increases with each
level until level 10, which is the highest level of Junior Olympic gymnastics
competition. For levels 4-7 the gymnast will perform routines on each event that
are predetermined by USA gymnastics, and are the same for every gymnast in that
level. Levels 8-10 are optional meaning that the gymnasts create the routine,
adhering to skill requirements set forth by FIG and USA gymnastics.
All boys interested in
joining the TNT Gymnastics Boys Competitive Team should contact Brandon Aune,
Head Boys coach. Boys interested in competing need to be evaluated prior to
beginning practice on the competitive team. The evaluations are important
because they ensure that we can place the children within our program where they
will be the most happy and successful. Prior experience in recreational
gymnastics is
required.
